Professional development is not just 'for the points.' To be considered a legitimate event, there must be learning taking place. Professional development is not just a meeting of the minds or sharing of information or a discussion of previous learning.
Deliberate, planned learning should be taking place. Learning can be defined as a "concerted activity that increases the capacity and willingness of individuals, groups, organizations, and communities to acquire and productively apply new knowledge and skills, to grow and mature, and to adapt successfully to changes and challenges."
My question to you: Is what you are offering as professional development actual learning and does it meet the requirements of 'Events Eligible for Inservice Points' from the Broward County Professional Development System and Master Inservice Plan?
